Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a drone to perform roof inspections?

Using drones to perform roof inspection services are safer, quicker, and more convenient to schedule for the property owner/contact.

How much does an inspection cost?

There is no cost to enroll in the Slate Roof Inspection Program. You choose the frequency on how often you want an inspection done.  We suggest annual inspections to keep on top of winter damage, necessary repairs and leak prevention, aging elements of your roof, and updating long-term maintenance plans. The fee for inspections starts at $350.00.  Commercial buildings and properties outside Chittenden County, Vermont will cost more.

Do you inspect chimneys?

We will provide pictures and an assessment on the flashing, brick, and cap on the outside of the chimney.  We do not inspect, repair or clean interior components of chimneys.

Can you perform inspections in the winter?

Precipitation, wind, and even temperature can prohibit us from performing an inspection any time of year. Also, in winter, the roof will have to be clear of snow and ice in order to get a sufficient view of the slate, flashings, etc.

Do I have to be home for the inspection?

No one needs to be home for the inspection to take place since we do not need access to the inside of the building. However, you are more than welcome to be in attendance if you wish.

How long will it take to get an inspection completed and repairs done?

This depends largely on weather and schedules for both the property residents/contact and our crew, so this is a case-by-case basis.

Do I have to do an inspection every year?

Slate authorities often advise that roofs be inspected and maintained on a yearly basis to avoid further damage, particularly for older slate roofs.

Will you work on my slate roof without an inspection done?

Performing an inspection before making repairs helps us to provide a more accurate and complete quote for any necessary repairs.

Do you only work on slate roofs?

At this time, we are only providing inspection services for buildings with slate roofs. However, if a slate roof has components such as copper gutters, our crew can work on those elements as well.
